HSIA In Short

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) is the largest international airport in Bangladesh which was formerly known worldwide as Zia International Airport and Dacca International Airport. The airport bears DAC as IATA code and VGHS as ICAO code.

HSI Airport is located in Dhaka, some 20 km away from the main Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh. The airport started its operation in 1980 taking over as the only international airport from Tejgaon Airport. This airport has an area of 1981 acres (approx. 802 ha) and handles more than 65% of the arrival and departure flights both in international and domestic sector.

HSIA airport has three terminals, one domestic and two international terminals. Recently, the construction of 3rd International terminal has been started. The airport facilitates flight operations of both domestic and international airlines. Bangladeshi airlines are: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, which is also the national flag carrier; Novoair, US-Bangla Airlines and Regent Airways. Notable international carriers serving at HSIA are Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, British Airways, Kuwait Airways, Thai Airways, Emirates, Fly Dubai, Bangkok Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air Asia, Sri Lankan Airways, China Eastern, China Southern, Cathay Pacific etc.

The airport provides cargo & Freight handling, flight arrivals and departures.
